Our 19-25 Provision: Rationale

At Blue Skies School, we recognise that some young autistic people may need longer to complete and consolidate their education and training and need support to exercise choice and control over their lives; including the 4 “preparing for adulthood’ outcomes (SEND Code of practice):

·     Moving in to paid employment and higher education

·     Independent living

·     Having friends and relationships and being part of their communities

·     Being as healthy as possible

The curriculum offer in our 19-25 provision focuses on these needs for our students with EHC plans who are not yet ready to complete further education with their peers by age 19.

Academic Study

Students are able to complete/improve GCSEs in English and Maths and, depending on individual needs, are able to undertake other accredited programmes of study including A’ Level, where appropriate.
